On the way to the Professional Photographers of Iowa Convention, a fellow photographer and I stumbled across a neat little treasure, and I wanted to share my story with you!
She had been telling me about this place that was buzzing among the photographer world…The Hyde Mill.
I plugged it into my phone, and it was only 15 minutes away… DETOUR!!! We both agreed that being late for convention would totally be worth the risk. *Squirrel!*
Picture this, two gals on some sketchy backroads with about 8 inches of unscathed snowy landscape! AGH!
The GPS prompts us to turn and we both look at each other thinking “Here we go!”
As we approach, we are in total shock and awe! My exact words: “OMG, This is AWESOME!”
The snow was untouched, glistening, and perfect. Although the sun was blazing, we couldn’t resist capturing this breathtaking view!! Boy was it worth it! As well as capturing images of Hyde Mill, we were able to get some beautiful images of The Hyde Chapel.
Our experience was so wonderful, that I decided to enter two of the images from our excursion into Print Competition. I submitted my two entries the day before the competition closed, and was shocked at the outcome! I have attached the images and the awards I won for them!
P.S. In case you were wondering, we did end up being late for Convention! Haha!
